Parents! Del Mar Academy Will be Following a Construction Calendar for the 2025-26 School Year
Due to the installation of a new eight-classroom mobile unit to support our growing student population, Del Mar Academy P-8 will begin the 2025-26 school year later than other APS schools. This means the first day of school for all Del Mar Academy P-8 students, including preschool and kindergarten, will be Tuesday, Sept. 2. This extra time allows for a safe and complete installation of the new mobile classroom.
Construction at Del Mar Academy will begin in May after the end of this current school year. To allow sufficient time for construction, our school will utilize a construction calendar for the 2025-26 school year. You can view the construction calendar here.
By taking out the additional time needed for construction at the start of the school year, there will be less disruption to instructional time. This calendar was developed to ensure that the modified schedule would not negatively impact student learning. Rest assured that students will receive the same quality of education on the construction calendar as they would on a traditional calendar, and it is required for only one school year.
In addition to a construction calendar, Del Mar Academy P-8 will have a change to our school bell schedule for next year. To meet the instructional time requirements set by the Colorado Department of Education, additional time has been added to the school day. As such, the bell schedule for the 2025-26 school year will be as follows:
Grades K-8: 7:30 a.m. – 2:22 p.m.
Preschool (Half-Day Programs):
Additionally, please know that the construction calendar differs from the APS conventional calendar in the following ways:

Start Date: Sept. 2, 2025 (vs. Aug. 6 for grades 1-12 and Aug. 12 for kindergarten and preschool on the traditional calendar)

End Date: June 4, 2026 (vs. May 21 on the traditional calendar)

Fall Break: Not observed

Thanksgiving Break: Extended to Nov. 24–28

Winter and Spring Breaks: Aligned with the traditional calendar
